Rule 1 • Irregular Plurals
Irregular plurals change internal vowels: wo•man → wo•men, child → chil•dren.
Rule 2 • Squeeze Rule
Add a consonant suffix to a word without changing the base (fi•nal•ly, sin•cere•ly, bare•ly, safe•ty, state•ment).
Rule 3 & [Deb] 4 • /sh/ as <ci>
/sh/ spelled ci after a vowel at the start of any syllable except the first (so•cial, spe•cial); [Deb] /sh/ can be ci, ti, si.
Rule 5 & 6 • Word Endings
Silent e keeps words from ending in u/v (ar•gue); /k/ spelled c at end of multi-syllable words (arc•tic).
