📚 Rules to Remember • Week 10
Rule 1 • /ā/ Spelled <ay>
/ā/ spelled ay that we may use at the end of English words (day, may, pay, play, stay).
Rule 2 • Schwa Sound /ə/
In unaccented syllables, a vowel often reduces to schwa /ə/, like a soft /ŭ/ (a•way).
Rule 3 & [Deb] 4 • Alternate Spellings for /ā/
[Deb] /ā/ can be a, a-e, ai, ay, ea, ei, ey; irregular past said uses ai saying short /ɛ/.
Rule 5 • Sight Words & Demonstratives
