Rule 1 • /ar/ Spelled <ar>
The phonogram ar says /ar/ as in car, far, dark, hard, arm, art, part, start.
Rule 2 & 3 • <w> Changes Vowel Sounds
w can change the sound of following vowels: ar says /or/ after w (warm, war).
Rule 4 • Soft <g> with Silent-e (Job 3)
Silent-e makes c and g say their soft sounds /s/ and /j/ (large).

[Deb] /ah/ spelled a after w or before l (talk, walk, want); /er/ in 1-syllable word only in her, per.
