📚 Rules to Remember • Week 15
Rule 1 • Short /ŏŏ/ Spelled <oo>
oo says short /ŏŏ/ before k, d, and t (took, look, book, stood, foot, good).
Rule 2 • Long /ōō/ Spelled <ue>
English words do not end in u; we add silent e to spell final /ōō/ (blue, true).
Rule 3 • Diphthong /oy/ Spelled <oy>
Use oy at the end of English words (boy); use oi in the middle of words (coin, soil).
Rule 4 • /ār/ Spelled <eir> in <their>
Spelling hint: Start with they, change y to i, and add r to make possessive their.
