Countryside Spelling Rules to Remember:
1. The -dge Trigraph: Immediately after a single short vowel, the /dʒ/ sound is spelled -dge (bridge, hedge).
2. Silent Initial K: In the word knoll (a round gentle hill), the k before n is silent.
3. The Water Words: A brook is small and cheerful; a creek is wider; a stream flows steadily through field and valley.
